With the Asian Champions League (ACL) approaching, Beleza played their 13th week match in midweek (Tuesday) ahead of others. It was at the home stadium of Sagamihara. The match ended with Beleza winning 0-2 away, but the number of shots was even and the first half ended at 0-0. Sagamihara’s starting lineup included the Sasai sisters.
On Saturday Beleza faced Niigata in consecutive away matches. Despite a tough schedule with only three days of rest, Beleza won 1-0 thanks to a goal from last season’s MVP, Yuzuki Yamamoto while Beleza dominated the number of shots.
Chiba and Saitama played a match with Chiba winning 2-1 at home. It was a great game that drew a crowd of 4,491. Chiba’s 16-year-old Runa Sumiya scored her first league goal. Saitama had three times as many shots, but was unable to break Chiba’s stronghold of Tanaka Momoko, the goalie, and their painful winless streak continues.
Sendai and Sagamihara drew 0-0. Sendai, despite taking twice as many shots, was unable to break through Sagamihara’s solid defense.
Hiroshima defeated Osaka 1-0 in front of a home crowd of 2,606. They also had an overwhelming number of shots. This was Hiroshima’s first win in four games.
Urawa won the Saitama Derby against Omiya, which drew a crowd of 3,505 at Komaba Stadium, with two goals from Mei Shimada. Omiya, despite having more shots, was unable to break through Urawa’s defense. Urawa has conceded only three goals in eight matches. Their solid defense is noticeable.

Beleza, Kobe, and Urawa are emerging as the top three. Beleza have played one more game than other two. In terms of scoring ability, Beleza are good, while in terms of defensive ability, Urawa are excellent. Kobe seem to be somewhere in between.
There are reports that Nadeshiko League champions Nagoya are looking into joining the WE League.
