Blogger’s Prediction on Friday, January 9th: The second half of the league resumes after the winter break. Tottenham, who have made vigorous reinforcements, are attracting attention. The match between Arsenal and United is expected to be a fierce battle. Attracting attention will be the performances of London City and West Ham, who both changed managers during the winter break. Rumors of US international Sam Coffey (Portland Thorns) transferring to City are also attracting attention. Even if she does transfer, it is unlikely she will play this week.

Overall Review: The match between Arsenal and United, attended by a crowd of 37,627, ended in a fierce draw as expected, but it was Arsenal who dominated the game thanks to their superior midfield organization. The other three matches of the top five teams were won as expected by the top teams. Coming off the winter break, many of the matches were somewhat stiff, but Chelsea’s five goals were incredible. Tottenham moved up one place to fourth, while mid-table Aston Villa overtook two teams.

Match 1 (1/10): Arsenal vs. United: The match between the third and fourth-placed teams, which drew a crowd of 37,627 at the Emirates Stadium, ended in a 0-0 draw. Arsenal, the home team, failed to convert 25 shots into a goal. It was a disappointing draw for Arsenal, who dominated the ball possession rate and had more touches in the opponents’ box. United’s Hinata Miyazawa played the full game.

Match 2 (1/11): Aston Villa vs. Brighton & Hove: The match between 8th and 7th place teams, which drew a crowd of 2,361 at Villa Park, ended with a 2-1 victory for Aston Villa. Brighton & Hove took the lead with a goal in the 11th minute, but Villa came back to win with goals in the 57th and 58th minutes. Brighton had the advantage in ball possession, shots, and touches in the opponent’s box, but it was not enough to secure victory. Brighton’s Fuka Tsunoda scored her first goal in her first league start. Brighton’s Kiko Seike and Honoka Minami played the full game.

Match 3 (1/11): Chelsea vs. West Ham: Chelsea, who are in second place, hosted 11th-placed West Ham at Kingsmeadow in a 5-0 victory for the home team. They were victorious, 4-0 in the first half alone. West Ham’s Yu Endo played the full game, despite regretting her own goal very early in the game.

Match 4 (1/11): City vs. Everton: City, currently in first place, hosted 10th-placed Everton at the Joie Stadium, winning 2-0 at home. City took 32 shots and scored only two goals. Everton’s perseverance in beating Chelsea was truly evident. City’s Ayaka Yamashita and Yui Hasegawa, and Everton’s Honoka Hayashi played the full game.

Match 5 (1/11): Tottenham vs. Leicester City: Fifth-placed Tottenham hosted ninth-placed Leicester City at BetWright Stadium, winning 1-0 for the home team. While the score was close, Tottenham dominated the opposition in terms of ball possession, shots, and touches in the opponent’s box, resulting in a deserved victory. However, Tottenham’s only goal was given by an opponent player, leaving them with some issues to work on in attack. Tottenham’s Toko Koga played the full game.

Match 6 (1/11): Liverpool vs. London City: Bottom-placed Liverpool hosted sixth-placed London City in front of a crowd of 2,419 at St Helens Stadium, finishing in a 0-0 draw. Liverpool had a significant advantage in shots but failed to score. Liverpool’s Fuka Nagano played the full game.

[Finals of Japan’s two U-18 Championships]
In the final of the 29th JFA All Japan U-18 Women’s Football Championship held on January 10th, Menina defeated Sendai 6-1 to win their second consecutive championship. Menina with five junior high school students in the starting lineup, including a number 10 player and two at the second grade, won comfortably. The question is which team is stronger, the Mnenina team or the North Korea U-18 team?
In the final of the 34th All-Japan High School Women’s Football Championship held on January 11th, Yanagigaura High School faced off against Kamimura Gakuen High School. After a great game, Yanagigaura High School maintained its pressure until the end to win its first championship. Will FC CORMOLADIES AZALEA in Kagawa Prefecture, which supplies players to the Yanagigaura team, be an eye-catching “Cantera”?
