Blogger’s Prediction on Friday, January 22nd: The big match of the week will be the London derby between Chelsea and Arsenal. A few days ago, Chelsea won one of the League Cup semi-finals, while Arsenal lost another one. Arsenal, who are second in the league, need a win to close in on second-placed Chelsea in points. Hana Hampton’s January return to the team may be a big factor for Chelsea. United, who advanced to the League Cup final, will need a win against Aston Villa to catch up the league top three. Can City extend their winning streak to 12? The match between Leicester and West Ham, lower-ranked teams, will also be eye-catching. Liverpool, who are winless, will be intrigued to see if their reinforcements can help them secure their first win, but their opponent is Tottenham, who have made effective reinforcements and are on a four-game unbeaten streak.

Overall Review: Some British female players have exceptional shooting skills. Beth Mead is a prime example. She also has excellent tactical acumen, able to hit opponents’ weak spots with minimal touches of the ball. Arsenal in third place reached just one point behind second-place Chelsea. City have won 12 consecutive league games, and now they’re nine points advanced to second-place Chelsea, who lost this week. However, the next week match will see a direct showdown between the first and second-place teams. United won as expected, overtaking Tottenham to move up to fourth place. With wins by 11th-place West Ham and 12th-place Liverpool, the gap in points up to 9th-place Leicester City and 10th-place Everton has narrowed.

Match 1 (1/23): Everton 0-1 Brighton & Hove: The away game at Goodison Park on Friday night was won by Brighton & Hove. Everton dominated possession, but were outnumbered in shots and touches in the opponents’ box. Brighton & Hove won with a 41st-minute goal (assisted by Kiko Seike). Everton’s Honoka Hayashi and Brighton & Hove’s Moeka Minami and Kiko Seike played the full game.

Match 2 (1/24): Chelsea 0-2 Arsenal: Arsenal won the London derby, which drew a crowd of 30,545 at Stamford Bridge. It was a closely matched game with almost equal shots and touches in the opponent’s box, but Arsenal won thanks to their superior ball possession rate and number of shots on target. Arsenal are now just one point behind Chelsea. This was indeed the highest level of competition in all the women’s sports.

Match 3 (1/25): London City 1-2 City: The match, which drew a crowd of 3,418 at Copperjax Community Stadium, was won by the away team, City, who had more shots, more possession, and more touches in the opponent’s box. However, the winning goal came late, in the 86th minute. US international Sam Coffey made her league debut for City. City’s Ayaka Yamashita and Yui Hasegawa played the full game.

Match 4 (1/25): Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham: In the match held at St Helens Stadium, home team Liverpool recorded their first win of the season with two goals in added time of the second half. Tottenham had the better ball possession rate, but Liverpool had more shots and touches in the opponent’s box. Did newly joining Denise O’Sullivan’s lead to the success? Risa Shimizu and Fuka Nagano of Liverpool, and Toko Koga of Tottenham played the full game.

Match 5 (1/25): Leicester 1-2 West Ham: The match at King Power Stadium saw West Ham take a two-goal lead and win. Leicester City had more shots, more possession and more touches in the box than their opponents, but still suffered a defeat. West Ham’s Riko Ueki and Yu Endo played the full game.

Match 6 (1/25): Aston Villa 1-4 United: The match, which drew a crowd of 4,501 to Villa Park, saw United win by three goals. United had more shots, more possession, and more touches in the opponent’s box, making it a natural victory, but it wasn’t until the 70th minute that the gap really opened up. Did Villa’s absence of Rachel Daly affect their defeat? Hinata Miyazawa of United played the full game.

[[[League Cup Semifinals]]]
The results of both matches were 0-1 defeats for the home teams.
In the Wednesday night match, which drew a crowd of 1,967 at Joie Stadium, City had more shots, but other factors were close. Unfortunately, City had two shots hitting the goal frame. Aoba Fujino’s absence appears to have had an impact.
United won by strong defense also on Wednesday night, in a match which drew a crowd of 2,418 at Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park. Arsenal lost despite having more shots, more possession, and more touches in the opposing box. Perhaps United has developed a resistance to Arsenal’s attacks.
The final will be between Chelsea and United.
