[Blogger’s preview of the 2026 season]
With numerous player transfers during the offseason following the last season, the year 2026 promises to be exciting to see how each team’s strength has changed. Some players have even been promoted to the higher-ranked professional league, the WE League, proving the Nadeshiko League a treasure trove of hidden talent. Nagoya, in particular, has hinted at the possibility of joining the WE League, and Sfida Setagaya has announced a partnership with J-League’s FC Tokyo. These two teams are definitely worth watching. How will Iga and Miyazaki, who gained momentum in the second half of the last season, fare this season? How will Harima and Yunogo, who also showed their strength in the second half, perform? And how will newly promoted Ichihara fare? The interest is endless.
Match 1 (3/14): Nittaidai Yokohama 2-2 Ehime at Hodogaya Park Soccer Ground
《《Blogger’s focused match》》
The opening match of the season. A clash between last season’s 11th and 7th place teams. The wind seemed to have an effect, but Ehime played some pretty good football in the second half. Was it the effect of new manager Ayumu Hasegawa? Nippon Sport Science University also made a comeback, making it an enjoyable match to watch. Ehime dominated in shots, 14 to 7.
Match 2 (3/14): Ichihara 0-2 Harima at Z-A Oripri Stadium
This season’s promoted team, Ichihara, faced off against Harima, who finished fifth last season. While there were few shots on goal, away team Harima efficiently scored two goals.
Match 3 (3/14): Yokohama Seagulls 0-2 Yunogo at Nippatsu Mitsuzawa Stadium
In a clash between last season’s 8th and 6th place teams, Yokohama, under manager Emi Yamamoto’s first stint in charge, had more shots on goal, but away team Yunogo secured the victory by scoring two goals efficiently.
Match 4 (3/15): Kamogawa 0-0 Iga at Rovers Sodegaura Stadium
This was a match between the 9th and 2nd place teams of the last season. Both teams focused on defense, resulting in a game with few shots.
Match 5 (3/15): Nagoya 0-0 Miyazaki at CS Asset Minato Soccer Stadium
The match between last season’s champions Nagoya and fourth-place Miyazaki ended in a draw after a closely contested game with an equal number of shots.
Match 6 (3/15): Setagaya 1-6 Shizuoka at AGF Field
The match pitted Setagaya, who finished 10th last season, against Shizuoka, who finished 3rd. Shizuoka dominated with 23 shots and won convincingly. Shizuoka’s Kumi Yokoyama single-handedly took 12 shots. Is she playing a role similar to Messi’s? Sayuna Nakajima and Reina Miwa each scored two goals.
