[ Blogger’s Overall Review of the Week 19 ]
With three matches remaining, Arsenal’s momentum is tremendous. In the north London derby, which drew a crowd of 46,123, Alessia Russo’s hat-trick in the first 27 minutes crushed Tottenham. They show no signs of dropping points. Meanwhile, City also accumulated three points with a convincing victory in the Manchester derby. If they gain five points in the next three matches, Arsenal will fall short, and City’s title will be secured. United are out of the title race. Chelsea, who narrowly won against Aston Villa, have moved up to second place, but are nine points behind City, meaning they are also virtually out of the title race. Liverpool have moved up slightly after winning the Merseyside derby. West Ham earned points with a draw, widening the gap with bottom-placed Leicester City to four points.
Among the Nadeshiko players, Risa Shimizu, Fuka Nagano, Hinata Miyazawa, Ayaka Yamashita, Yui Hasegawa, Aoba Fujino, Toko Koga, Riko Ueki, Saki Kumagai, Moeka Minami, and Kiko Seike played the full matches. They appear to be maintaining their good form from the Asian Cup. Saki Kumagai was appointed game captain. Kiko Seike scored the winning goal. There are concerns about Hinata Miyazawa’s fatigue, but it seems that the team’s circumstances will not allow her to miss this Wednesday’s must-win match against Bayern Munich (EWCL).
