The final of the Africa Women Cup of Nations 2024 was really exciting, and Stade Olympique de Rabat, Morocco, was full of enthusiasm.
The host country Morocco led the match scoring two goals in the first half, and the Atlas Lions led by a Spanish manger Jorge Vilda made the home attendance heat up. Vilda was the manager when La Roja, the Spain national team, won the world cup 2023.
But the Super Falcons never gave up to be the champions. The Nigerian national team scored three goals in the last 30 minutes and won the match. The last goal of the match was scored at 88th minutes by Jennifer Echegini, who was born in the Netherlands, spent her youth career at English clubs, and played at two US colleges as well as at two professional clubs Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
The final of the EURO2025 was also thrilling and the Lionesses defeated La Roja via an exciting shootout. My comments on this match are to be uploaded separately soon.
Let’s look at the Copa América Femenina 2025. As expected, Brasil (4), Argentina (32), and Colombia (18) are the semifinalists. The numbers in parentheses are the FIFA ranking. The last semifinal seat was given to Uruguay whose FIFA ranking is 63. The semifinal matches are taken place on Monday and Tuesday.
