[UEFA Women’s Champions League (WCL) Matchday 6]
Overall Review: The last of the six Swiss-style group stage matches took place on the evening of Wednesday, December 17th. Nine matches were played simultaneously. While Barcelona and OL Lyonnais were already guaranteed two of the four semifinal spots, there was fierce competition for the remaining two. As a result, Chelsea and Bayern earned their spots in the semifinals. Chelsea won a tough away match against Wolfsburg. Real Madrid and Juventus could have overtaken Bayern with a win, but the former drew and the latter lost to United. Arsenal, United, Real Madrid, and Juventus will advance to the knockout playoffs, where they will face OH Leuven, Atléti, Real Madrid, Paris SG, and Wolfsburg, respectively, in home-and-away matches in February of next year. The knockout stage draw result is here. Since Arsenal advanced from the playoffs to win the last championship, it’s hard to predict the champion of this season.
